This is something we seem to hear a lot, even though we may not hear it in those words specifically. Our Congress, President, and even other nations tell us we need higher taxes, but at the end of the day those screaming for higher taxes are the ones who, most of the time, never even paid their taxes until the last minute when they wanted a government job. Can we honestly say they have our best interests at heart when they will not even do their own duty and pay what is due from them, when telling every other American you better pay for the armed IRS agents with their new guns are coming to your door. It seems to me to be a little too much for even those who do not care about politics to take, but at the end of the day most of us expect nothing less from this government.
More than that, however, is the information that is given to us. We are told to “trust” our government, especially the Obama Administration because they are, supposedly, the most open and honest Administration ever! We know that NOT to be the case, even if the left wants to argue the other side, because we have seen what was promised, and we received something totally different. All you have to do is go back to the Health Care debate and see how much the American people actually got to see, and what they were promised by the President when he was campaigning. I guess it is OK to lie, and when someone calls you on that lie, if all else fails, you can always blame George W. Bush. At the end of the day, however, when the American people are looking for leadership from their government, all we have received was the worst case scenario.
Look at the handling of the Gulf oil spill and we can see the President, along with those who surround him do not have the slightest idea of what is going on in the Gulf region today. It seems like they rather play golf, do interviews, meet with foreign heads of state and go to a play. No matter if there is a media blackout of the Gulf or not, the President has not done his duty to make sure everything can be done that could be done in that region to help. He says that he has, but in the end it is a lie and all of us know it, even those supporters of him know it to be true. There were many things he could have done right off the bat, but at the end of the day he was as clueless as anyone else. In some aspects, I do believe that he does not want to do something because of political reasons, and he would allow the spill to continue for years and years as long as it helps his agenda. This man is a narcissist, no doubt about it!
It would be an understatement to say at this point that we need not only a President but a Congress that will look to the people and see what is best for them, what will help them the most, and what will keep them safe. Today, the United States of America filed a lawsuit against a state over immigration disputes. Arizona, as we all know, has passed a law to crack down on illegal immigrants because the federal government wants no part of it. In turn, what does the Justice Department do? They file suit and say that the state of Arizona does not have the Constitutional right to pass a law like this, because at the end of the day it is the federal governments responsibility to make sure the borders are secure, no matter if they actually do it or not. This would be like you hiring me to cut your grass, I cut the grass, then you sue me because I cut your grass. I will have people tell me that example does not hold water, but in reality it does.
Technically, the federal government’s job is to make policy on immigration into this COUNTRY. When it comes to the states, the federal government does not hand out driver’s licenses, the states do. The states have the power to say who is a citizen of their state respectively, not the federal government who only says who can be a citizen of this country. We do have laws that say to be a citizen of the state, you must be a United States citizen or other, depending on the state in which we are talking about. The federal governments job, in turn, would be to make policy in which the states can determine who is “legal” and who is “illegal” and the definitions would come from the federal government.
When it comes to enforcing said laws, the border in general is a national protection issue, which means the federal government, along with the military controlled by the President as Commander-in -Chief, would be given the job of making sure that the least number of illegal citizens cross into this country. This is not being done, so in turn we have states that either are looking at new laws on state immigration or have already passed such laws, like the state of Arizona. The federal government argues, and I kid you not, that because they have done nothing to secure the border does not mean the states can make a claim and protect their border. This is, for all intents and purposes a state issue, not because it is in a larger view a border issue technically, but a STATE border issue, in which the states have the right to make laws. Arizona is not saying they will enforce the WHOLE southern border, which is what the job of the federal government is to do. What they have said, in their law, is that they will protect THEIR border, which in my eyes and having read Supreme Court cases that have dealt with this issue, looks Constitutional.
It shows us one thing, however, and that is our government will come out and say just because they do not do a job does not mean someone else can do it. They have let the American people down once again, and the people are sick and tired of it. A LARGE majority in the state of Arizona, Latinos included, agree with this law and want the laws to be enforced. The see the climbing debt that illegals being with them, and at the end of the day they do not want to have to deal with paying the cost when many people in Arizona who are immigrants came here the RIGHT way!
As I have shown, the federal government has picked and chose what laws would be enforced and when they would be enforced and for who, depending on who was involved. If this is the government that the people decided that they wanted and they still want, more people need to wake up. If the people want something done, call Washington! Call 3 times a day, and tell them what you want done on the border, tell them you want Health Care repealed, tell them you want lower taxes and you want them to stay out of the business of owning private companies in the name of saving businesses that are “too big too fail”! It is up to us, so let us get to work!
